Family household shipment prepared as cargo from Dubai to KSA
A family's belongings boxed, wrapped, and inventoried in Dubai — ready for the road journey to a new home in Saudi Arabia.

Every month, hundreds of families and individuals leave the UAE for jobs, marriages, and new chapters across the border. What they ship is not commercial stock — it is a life in boxes. Our cargo from Dubai to KSA service has a dedicated lane for exactly this: household furniture, personal effects, used appliances, and the irreplaceable things that need to arrive the way they left.

Moving a home is not the same as moving freight

Commercial shipments are uniform: identical cartons, one commodity, one invoice line. A household move is the opposite — a sofa, a glass dining set, a washing machine, children's toys, and a folder of certificates that must not get damp. Each category needs its own protection, and the paperwork follows different customs rules from trade cargo.

Used personal items generally clear into Saudi Arabia under a simplified path: an inventory list rather than a commercial invoice, and the owner's ID and residency details rather than an importer registration. We prepare that inventory with you, in the format border officers expect, so a family shipment is not treated — or taxed — like a trading consignment.

What can you send, and what should stay behind?

Almost everything a household owns can travel by road: furniture (assembled or flat-packed), appliances, clothing, books, kitchenware, bicycles, and electronics. A few things need thought. Opened food, aerosols, and perfumes in bulk complicate clearance. Anything on the Saudi prohibited list — alcohol being the most common surprise in expat households — must be removed before packing day.

  • Declare every carton's contents honestly on the inventory — vague labels invite inspection
  • Back up laptops and remove them to hand luggage if the data matters
  • Empty and defrost fridges and freezers 24 hours before collection
  • Drain fuel from generators, mowers, or bikes with engines
  • Keep passports, jewellery, and original certificates with you, not in the truck
  • Photograph furniture condition before wrapping

Transit and delivery

The load crosses at Al Batha, clears on your documents, and is placed room by room at the new address.

From collection anywhere in the UAE — Dubai Marina, Mirdif, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi — to delivery in a Riyadh compound or a Jeddah apartment, one team stays responsible for the shipment throughout. You are not handed between subcontractors mid-move.

What does a family move to Saudi Arabia cost?

Volume drives the price more than weight for household goods; a three-bedroom villa simply occupies more truck than a studio. The other levers are packing scope (full-service versus owner-packed), destination distance inside the Kingdom, and delivery access — a lift-served apartment differs from a fourth-floor walk-up.

Move sizeTypical volumeBest transport format
Studio / partial moveA few CBMShared truck space (LTL)
1–2 bedroom apartmentModerate volumeShared or part-load
3+ bedroom villaLarge volumeDedicated truck (FTL)

Money-saving tip: declutter before you quote, not after. Selling or donating unused furniture in Dubai routinely shrinks a move by a third — and shared truck space means you only pay for the volume that actually travels.

Timing your move around handover dates

Plan on three to seven working days for most GCC road cargo once the truck departs. The variable part is rarely the driving; it is document readiness and how quickly your new address can receive. If your Saudi accommodation starts on the first of the month, we work backwards with you: packing date, dispatch date, and a delivery slot that does not leave your family sleeping on the floor — or paying for storage you did not need.

Speaking of storage: if there is a gap between leaving your UAE home and getting keys in Saudi Arabia, our Dubai warehousing bridges it. Goods are stored packed and inventoried, then dispatched the moment your dates firm up.

Used items, new rules — the paperwork in plain terms

For personal effects, the essential file is short: a detailed inventory (which our packing crew produces), copies of the owner's passport and UAE/Saudi residency documents, and the destination contact's details. Duty treatment for used household goods is generally favourable compared with new commercial items, though the final assessment always rests with Saudi customs at the crossing.

Where a household includes new, boxed items — a just-bought TV still sealed, for example — tell us. Mixing obviously new retail goods into a personal-effects load without declaring them is the classic mistake that slows a family shipment down.

"Two kids, a villa in Arabian Ranches, and three weeks' notice for a transfer to Riyadh. The crew packed everything in a day, the inventory made clearance painless, and our beds were assembled in the new compound before the weekend."

Sarah and Tom W., relocating family

"I only had twelve cartons and a wardrobe going to Jeddah, and every other mover wanted to sell me a full truck. These guys put it on a shared departure and charged me for my volume, nothing more."

Bilal K., single professional, Al Barsha

"My daughter's piano made it from Sharjah to Dammam without a scratch. They crated it, photographed it, and sent me the delivery picture before she had even called me."

Frequently asked questions

How do booking and payment work?

Share photos or a rough list of items, receive a written quote, and confirm your packing date — that is the whole booking. Payment is settled at booking or on collection, by transfer or cash in the UAE. There are no hidden destination charges: the quoted door-to-door figure covers packing, transport, clearance support, and delivery.

How long will my household shipment take?

Most GCC road cargo arrives within three to seven working days of dispatch. Eastern Province addresses trend early in that range; Jeddah and the south use more of it. We recommend fixing your packing date about a week before you need the goods at the new home, and we will fine-tune the schedule with you.

Can I pack my boxes myself?

Yes — many customers carton their own clothes and books, and we handle furniture wrapping and fragile items. Self-packed boxes should be double-walled, under about 20 kg each, and labelled by room and contents, because the inventory must describe what each carton holds for customs purposes.

Will I get updates during the move?

You receive WhatsApp notifications at the milestones that matter: packing complete, truck dispatched, border cleared, and out for delivery. If anything needs a decision mid-route — an access problem at the new building, for instance — a coordinator calls you rather than letting the shipment sit.

Is delivery to my door or to a depot?

Door-to-door is the standard for household moves: collection from your UAE residence through to placement inside the rooms of your Saudi home, including reassembly of beds and wardrobes our crew dismantled. Depot collection exists as a budget option if your receiver prefers to arrange the last leg themselves.
