What Drives the Number You See
The estimator multiplies your chargeable weight by the current lane rate and applies the minimum charge for that mode. Road shipments convert volume at roughly 250 kg per CBM, air freight at 167 kg per CBM, and sea LCL is billed per cubic metre with a one-CBM minimum. Bulky-but-light cargo therefore often costs more than its scale weight suggests — check the volumetric weight calculator to see which figure applies.
Real quotes can land below or above the range: stackable palletised cargo ships cheaper, while fragile items, remote delivery areas, and urgent cutoffs add cost. Duties and VAT at the destination are never included in freight estimates.
